Designer Olga Avershyna is a self taught designer who grew up in the Ukraine. She was taught to sew as a young girl. Her first project was a simple silk flower that her friend had shown her how to make. She really enjoyed working with fabrics. She became obsessed with textures of fabrics, silks, crystals and beads and would sit up late at night designing and creating silk flowers and headpieces. Olga then took her creative flair and passion to a new level and began designing wedding gowns where her talent really shone through.In 2011 she took some of her gowns & headpieces to a local bridal expo. In 2016 our membership is well over 300 and our technology is D cinema. We screen our films in the newly renovated Maleny Community Centre which seats 220, showing the best of world cinema. Most of the films are chosen through a voting process by our members. There is so much more. The solar system is also intrinsically linked to the dynamics of the terrestrial landscape. This sculpture interacts with the environment. With the movement of the sun, the changing light reflects the subtle colors and atmospheric hues. Shadows mark time depicting both the summer and winter solstice as well as the equinox. As a functioning sound instrument, the sculpture creates its own individual music using the changing velocity of the wind. This concept draws upon ancient philosophies and seeks to revitalise in the wider community the importance of this early science and cosmological thought. view website>>
